Aloha, I’m Shawn, the founder and maker behind Sea Darling Studios on Maui.
I’ve been a Maui business owner for the past 13 years through my photography company, Love and Water, where I’ve had the privilege of telling visual stories alongside my husband, Adam while raising our three kids.
We began collecting shells during lockdown in 2020, when we were out of jobs for the better part of a year and with a 3 and 1 year old, gave eachother one hour alone to be in the ocean. Those treasures sat on our shelf for years. I’ve always felt drawn to creating with them, and finally decided the time was now. And so, Sea Darling Studios was born - in the corner of our garage where Adam one day moved some boxes, added a table and encouraged me to use my creative freedom to carve out a workspace.
Each piece I create is thoughtfully handmade with the colors, textures, and beauty of Hawaiʻi’s coastline in mind. I draw inspiration from the ocean tones found in the fine art prints we create through Love and Water, using soft palettes of sunrise and sunset as the foundation for my designs.
Sea Darling Studios is a heart-led collection of wearable reminders of the ocean, with a story behind each that I look forward to sharing.
